Primary Care
SJSU eligible students can receive primary care visits, which include care for acute injuries and illnesses (like the flu, sprains, UTIs, etc), physical exams (academic, pre-employment, routine, SCUBA and DMV physicals), preventive health counseling, sexual and reproductive health including birth control prescription (short and long acting contraception), pap smears, STI testing, and pregnancy resources.
Sexual and Reproductive Health
Health screening examinations are generally recommended based on age and risk factors, rather than routine yearly physicals.
Please see the Patient Guide For Sensitive Exams [pdf] to best understand your options should you need an exam of this nature.
Pap Smear
- Schedule your first Pap smear after age 21 to screen for cervical cancer
- Clinical breast exam is usually performed along with the Pap smear
Pregnancy Options
Senate Bill (SB) 24 requires all CSU campuses to offer medication abortion to students. If you receive a positive pregnancy test during an exam at the Student Wellness Center, we’ll provide you with pregnancy options counseling and, if eligible and requested, medication abortion with follow up care from trusted SJSU healthcare providers.
