GRAD Grants
The SJSU Department of Anthropology supports graduate research and presentations. These awards are competitive and only a limited number can be awarded each semester. Awards fall under two categories.
Award Categories
Research and Development Grants
(maximum award: $250) These grants are awarded to graduate students seeking support for a project (including work on a faculty-led project) that will form the basis of an M.A. project report or thesis.
Travel Grants
(maximum award: $500) These grants are awarded to graduate students seeking support for travel to an academic conference for the purpose of presenting a professional paper. Before being reimbursed for expenses, grant applicants must provide evidence that a paper has been accepted by the professional organization. NOTE: Due to current COVID-related travel restrictions, these grants are restricted to conference registration fees.
Application Process
Awards are granted on a rolling basis and may be submitted at anytime during the academic year. Students should consult with a faculty sponsor before submitting an application. Priority will be given to those who have not received other funding for the proposed travel or project and those who have not previously received a GRAD Grant.
Please print and submit the above form to the Anthropology Office (Clark Hall 469).
