Faculty Appointment Procedure

Purpose

This guide outlines the process for completing the 2026 Faculty Appointment Form via DocuSign. This form serves as the primary tool for managing faculty employment under the Research Foundation.

Scope

  • Compensated PIs: Principal Investigators (PIs), who are SJSU Faculty, receiving compensation through the Research Foundation must follow this process for any project-based employment, pay adjustments, or additional appointments.
  • Form Initiation: The Project Director (PI) must submit this form to hire faculty or modify existing project-based faculty employment.

Use this form for:

  • New Hires: Appointing a SJSU faculty member, PI (themselves) onto a project for the first time.
  • Employment Changes: Updates to pay rates, project allocations, or extensions.
  • Additional Appointments: Adding new roles or duties to a faculty member's current active with the Research Foundation.
