ESSC Peer Mentorship Program
Be a Mentor, Work with a Mentor
This new mentorship program aims to help undergraduate students in their development by being matched with a graduate student to promote personal, career, social, and academic engagement. The mentorship relationship can be a mutually beneficial one with both students learning more about each other, our campus resources, and its academic and professional opportunities. This unpaid, volunteer initiative is supported by the Engineering Student Success Center via a Mentorship Team of ESSC advisors and includes an initial orientation for mentors as well as monthly check-ins between advisors and mentors.
Recruiting Graduate Peer Mentors
The Engineering Student Success Center (ESSC) is looking for volunteer Graduate Peer Mentors to start in Spring 2022. This is a great opportunity to make a difference working with undergraduate engineering students, to boost your resume and make it stand out, to develop your interpersonal and networking skills, and to connect to the SJSU campus and its offerings.
Define Your Success
Entering a new university can be challenging and pairing with a Peer Mentor could go a long way! A Graduate Peer Mentor can help and guide you in topics such as SJSU resources, time management, career aspirations, networking for opportunities, academic achievement, graduate school, or talk to you about any challenges you might face as a new SJSU student. We will open the program to new transfer students around late November.
