Annual First-Year Success Scheduling

Dear Colleagues,

We’re launching Annual First-Year Success Scheduling (AFYSS) for AY2026-2027 to improve annual course planning and the first-time, first-year student registration experience, ensuring students begin on a clear and achievable four-year graduation pathway.

AFYSS provides early structure and visibility into required coursework, reducing uncertainty during registration and helping students enroll in the right courses at the right time, which is critical to maintaining progress toward timely degree completion.

Before Summer 2026 orientation, new first-year students will set schedule preferences using MyScheduler. Before their orientation session, two to three required courses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 will be pre-populated into their profile. During orientation advising sessions, students will register for Fall 2026 classes.

While Spring 2027 registration will still open in late October, pre-populating these courses provides students with early visibility into their spring term and enables us to better match student demand with course offerings.

Action Items

  • By 2/15/26: College Academic ADs submit the list of courses by major.
  • 2/10-3/2/26: Departments schedule AY26-27 fall and spring classes for those courses.

More details and updates are available on the AFYSS site. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting student success.

Best,
Vin
