About the Program
The Brass Program at the SJSU School of Music and Dance counts among its faculty some of the best brass artist/teachers in the San Francisco Bay area. Students receive weekly training in brass performance in individual and group settings. A variety of performing opportunities are available for students, including studio recitals and brass chamber music concerts, as well as the SJSU Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, jazz combos, the Spartan Marching Band, and others. All performances are organized by the School of Music and Dance and are open to the public.

Are Scholarships Available?
Yes. Scholarship awards are based upon performance level and the needs of the student. All music majors enrolled in the Spartan Marching Band receive an automatic supplemental scholarship award. More about scholarships.
Are Instruments Available?
Yes. Student may choose from a variety of school instruments required for performance.
When Are Band, Brass Ensemble, and Orchestra Auditions?
Auditions for these ensembles are held during prior to the first day of classes.
