       The Digital Counter-Storytelling Faculty Learning Community

Funded through a gift from Adobe to San José State University, we have launched the Digital Counter-Storytelling Faculty Learning Community, a professional development opportunity that enables faculty to create counter-storytelling assignments that enhance students’ leadership skills. By participating in this program, faculty expand institutional capacity to create classroom environments where students feel an empowering sense of belongingness and that their stories matter–leading to increased student academic engagement and the ability to bring to the workplace their full selves in any career path.

• 3-year initiative to assemble faculty learning communities across campus
• Professional development to create assignments that enable students to connect their lived experiences to course content
• Students learn to use Adobe digital tools to capture their stories 
  → develop leadership skills and career readiness
• Faculty leaders across campus will build connections and mutual support through this commitment
