Current Research Activities

My current research investigates 2 main research questions: (1) What are the determinants of affective and programmatic polarization?, and (2) What explains the electoral rise of authoritarian populist parties in developing democracies?

Research Connections to Current Events

My research agenda investigates the determinants of two of the most important phenomena affecting new and developing democracies: political polarization and authoritarian populists/parties.  As such, it has a direct connection with the events happening in the world.
