General Education (GE) Course “Shuffles”

Over the past year, responsibility for processing MyProgress exceptions has transitioned from the colleges to the Office of the Registrar, specifically the Graduation Team. Alongside the implementation of the Advisor Request System, this change has improved processing efficiency and enhanced the accuracy of both MyProgress and MyPlanner.  We continue to refine and improve our processes, and in that effort, we are introducing the GE Shuffle.

What Are GE “Shuffles”?

In some cases, a course that satisfies more than one General Education (GE) requirement may be automatically applied to the eligible category in MyProgress. This can prevent another course from fulfilling that same requirement, even when doing so would better support a student’s path to graduation.

To address this, courses may be manually reassigned to a different eligible GE category. This process is referred to as a “GE Shuffle.”

GE Shuffles:

  • Are not exception requests and do not require formal approval
  • Involve reassign courses that already meet multiple GE requirements
  • Do not require exceptions approval
  • Are used to optimize a student’s MyProgress report and support timely degree completion

Process Update

The Graduation Team will manage GE Shuffles upon request from academic advisors via email.

For questions or additional guidance, faculty and advisors are encouraged to contact the Office of the Registrar’s Graduation Team.
