Make sure that your primary (legal) name is current in MySJSU. That is the name we
print on your diploma. You can see how your name will appear by viewing your unofficial
transcript. To update your name, submit the Personal Info Change [pdf] form to the Office of the Registrar before the last day of instruction.
Diplomas are printed on a rolling basis. You can expect to receive your diploma about 4-6 weeks after you see your degree posted on MySJSU:
Fall Graduates - late February
Spring Graduates - early July
Summer Graduates - middle of September
Electronic copies of diplomas are not available. However, you may request a degree verification letter in writing.
Be sure that your diploma/mailing address is current in MySJSU. Submit any address changes before the last day of the semester. We send diplomas by USPS first class mail, so we will not have any tracking information.
We will send diplomas to international addresses. However, the format of these addresses may vary. If you wish to use an international address, please update MySJSU and send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to ensure we get your address in the correct format.
Many students with international addresses have us send their diploma to a trusted
friend with a stable local address. That friend would then forward the diploma to
the student using FedEx/UPS to get a tracking number.
A hold on your account may prevent us from sending your diploma. If you have not received your diploma within two months from the end of the semester, please email your evaluator. Students must report a missing diploma within 7 months of their commencement date:
July 31: Fall Graduates
Dec 31: Spring Graduates
Mar 31: Summer Graduates
Your diploma will include all majors, ONE minor, plus Latin and Department Honors
if applicable. Contact your evaluator with any questions you have about which minor will appear on your diploma.
Students with financial holds on their account will not receive their diploma. Check MySJSU to see if you have any holds. Inform your graduation evaluator when you have cleared your holds.
If you need to replace your diploma or would like additional copies, place your order from the appropriate link below. A $10 per diploma fee applies. Bachelor degree students have the option to submit a paper form and pay by check. Please allow 3-4 weeks processing time.
If you have both a master and bachelor degree from SJSU, you must submit a separate request for each degree.
The Office of the Registrar will only send your diploma. For more information about medallions, regalia, or other commencement materials such as a padded holder, visit the commencement site.
