Student Work Categories

Use these student work categories when completing the Student Appointment form via OnBase. These categories will be used primarily for reporting. You must select one or more on the form and assign percentages of time to each category you select.

• Office Work

  • Office work includes, but is not limited to, clerical support, administrative support, filing, answering phones, reception.

• Safety

  • Safety includes all work in the University Police Department (including Parking). It also includes, but is not limited to, lifeguards, event security.

• Technical Support

  • Technical Support includes, but is not limited to, web, social media, service desk, hardware support, software support, audio/visual support

• Classroom/Lab Support

  • Classroom/Lab Support includes, but is not limited to, childcare, animal care, lab preparation.

• Food Service
  • Food Service includes work at all SpartanEats locations on campus.
• Athletics
  • Athletics includes all work in support of Spartan Athletics.
• Student Life
  • Student Life includes, but is not limited to, mentoring, orientation, event support.
• Research Related
  • Research Related work includes, but is not limited to, any undergraduate research project, assisting a faculty member strictly with research or creating a product, and not assisting more than 50% with teaching related duties. Employees provide delimited services such as library retrieval, data entry, coding, equipment preparation and more. This work category can be applied to graduate or undergraduate level students who will be paid on an hourly basis.
