SJSU IT recently uncovered a potential fraudulent email providing retirement and benefits
consultation. Similar emails were not only sent to some individuals in the SJSU community,
but also to other campuses, such as UC Santa Cruz. One version of the email looks like this:
What you need to do
- Employees desiring more information about retirement options are encouraged to review University Personnel’s Retirement Programs.
- For emails of this nature, please do not hesitate to forward it to security@sjsu.edu, and to mark it as phishing in Google. Once notified, the security team can review it and orchestrate additional safeguard placement.
