ChatGPT Plugins
As part of your access to ChatGPT as an SJSU student, staff, or faculty member, you have access to a set of connected apps (plugins) that allow you to bring information from commonly-used university tools into your ChatGPT conversations. These connections are designed to make it easier to find information, summarize content, and work across systems without repeatedly copying and pasting material. These plugins were enabled based on the recommendations from CSU Chancellor’s Office and SJSU Information Technology Services’ Information Security Office. All ChatGPT plugins are opt-in.
As of Fall 2026, available plugins include Microsoft 365 tools such as Outlook Email,
Outlook Calendar, Teams, and SharePoint; Google Workspace tools including Gmail, Google
Calendar, Google Contacts, and Google Drive; and communication platforms such as Slack
and Zoom. We have also enabled tools that support research and content creation, including
Deep Research, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Express, and Adobe Photoshop.
Plugins are only available on your university-connected @sjsu.edu account and are
not provided for personal accounts. For help on how to install and use the plugins,

Plugin Data Access
Connecting an app does not give ChatGPT broader access to university information; users can only access content they are already authorized to view. Connecting an app gives ChatGPT permission to access information through that app. Users can only retrieve information their connected university account is already authorized to access.
When you connect an app, you will be prompted to review permissions and you can always disconnect an app later. Disconnecting stops future access, though it does not automatically delete information already included in existing conversations. For more informtion, reference OpenAI’s account-connection guide.
Plugin availability does not replace applicable university, course, departmental, data-handling, or records-management requirements. The following tables detail which plugins have been rolled out and which features have been enabled and which are restricted/disabled for each ChatGPT plugin. SJSU’s feature enablement choices for ChatGPT reflect guidance provided by the CSU Chancellor’s Office.

Students have access to additional ChatGPT plugins that help them explore learning opportunities, plan activities and travel, research housing, compare products and services, and discover music and local resources. Rather than visiting multiple websites and sorting through results themselves, students can ask ChatGPT to compare options, summarize information, make personalized recommendations, and help build plans based on their needs, preferences, and budget.
These plugins are designed primarily for discovery and planning. Students will remain in control of any final action: ChatGPT will not complete purchases, make reservations, book travel, schedule services, modify shopping carts or playlists, or change account settings.
